Rowe Furniture Optimizes Production with MiriSys Software and Eastman Cutting Solutions

Elliston, VA, USA – March 2025 – Rowe Furniture, www.Rowefurniture.com a leading furniture manufacturer with over 75 years of industry presence, sought to modernize its production processes. This initiative led to a collaboration with MiriSys and Eastman Machine Co. to implement a comprehensive digital solution.

Rowe’s Challenge
Rowe Furniture faced the challenge of relying on outdated cardboard patterns for the hand cutting of secondary materials. These patterns degraded over time, leading to reduced accuracy. Additionally, the large variety of styles and options offered by Rowe resulted in hundreds of patterns, consuming valuable production space.

Solution and Implementation
MiriSys provided a system that enabled the digitization of physical patterns using a camera, allowing for efficient editing within CAD software, including MiriSys’s UniPDS. Digital templates were then projected onto the cutting table, guiding operators using Eastman Cardinal cutting tools for precise material cutting. This successful implementation led to the installation of a second system in another department.

New Cutting Workflow
Building on this success, Rowe, MiriSys and Eastman collaborated in early 2024 on a project to upgrade Rowe’s fiber cutting program. This project focused on a holistic approach to optimize Rowe’s operations, aiming to go beyond basic cutting solutions.

Key Benefits and Features
The implemented solution provided Rowe with several key benefits, including:

Automated import of production orders from their ERP system, reducing duplication of effort.
• Enhanced control and visibility over production data, with easy access to nesting results and advanced reporting capabilities.
Increased material yield through MiriSys’s advanced automatic nesting algorithms, resulting in percentage-based material savings.
Streamlined workflow by minimizing manual interaction in the production order creation process.
Versatile pre-production costing through nesting simulations for various models and materials.
• A projector-based sorting system to minimize bundling errors using customized color coding.
Scalability and flexibility to adapt to Rowe’s evolving business needs.

Collaboration and Partnership
Eastman Machine Co. (Buffalo, NY www.eastmancuts.com) a provider of cutting solutions for manufacturers worldwide for over 130 years, supplied the Eastman C135 cutting machine.
MiriSys North America (Pineville, NC www.mirisys.us) handled the customization, installation, and training for Rowe.
The ongoing collaboration between Rowe, MiriSys, and Eastman is characterized by continuous support and implementation of new ideas.

Conclusion
The partnership between Rowe Furniture, MiriSys, and Eastman Machine has resulted in a successful project that has optimized Rowe’s production processes and fostered a strong, enduring relationship between the companies.
